Two things I can never get enough of when I'm in Paris: pain and pastries from Paul, and flavorful fallafels for an easy - cheap, and delicious! - lunch or dinner from L'As du Fallafel. Well, three things maybe. Who can stop at just one visit to Ladurée? And, four: Or one sitting of hot chocolate at Angelina's? Okay. Maybe one cup o' cocoa at Angie's is more than enough on a short visit. I do indeed drink the whole cup - with the aid of many a shot de l'eau - and it takes me a good week to recover from the quick kick and subsequent coma-inducing crash. Angie's cocoa is no joke!

T-minus 69 days and counting until I next chow down on these must-eat Parisian treats.

In the meantime, I'm noshing on Paris à la the Little Brown Pen. You should try it. It's magnifique!

Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - little brown pen - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

  1. Hi!

Two of my favorite places in Paris.

The falafel at L'As du Fallafel on Rue de Rosiers are fantastic. A bargain for Paris (€4) and big enough for a meal.

Paul is a chain, but the bread is consistently good. The staff is so friendly, and if you arrive at just the right time (something Parisians know inherently), you can get fresh-from-the-oven bread. :)

  2. Paul is indeed a superb chain, where one can count on the pain to be toujours magnifique.

In addition to bread and pastries from Paul, I'm looking forward to trying something new: if David Lebovitz's "Crack Baguette" bakery is still open, I'm going to give it a taste: 166, rue Faubourg-Poissonière in Montmartre.

    Bon Appétit!
