I cannot wait to be here. And what I love about this shot is that it feels like I'm there, right now!

Hello, happy place! Can't wait to meet you, in person. What an incredible shot! I never thought I'd say this, because all the pretty pictures of Santorini feature solid blue skies, but here's hoping for at least one day of delicious clouds on my trip, this spring. Makes for an amazing mood, as this inspiring image demonstrates beautifully.

My 2011 trips to the Italian and French Rivieras have now come and gone (and I'm still in the process of processing all the pretty pictures; taking my time to prolong the pleasure). But now I have the most amazing of destinations to look forward to: Santorini! I've never been to Greece and have dreamed of seeing Oia and its famous sunsets with my own eyes since, well, since I saw my first snapshot of this fabled island. Trips do come true, and I can't wait for this one, this spring. While I pass the days in between, it's breathtaking pictures like this one that inspire me to be there, explore, and find my own timeless vantage points to immortalize via my Nikon.

In planning a trip to Santorini for next spring, I've been doing a fair bit of Flickr-ing to scout the island from home. Outside of Santorini's charming white-washed walls and sweeping sea and sunset views, I'm most looking forward to meeting and making images of its furry, four-legged locals. I think cats are incredible, majestic creatures, and the smaller the sweeter. So it's no wonder that I find this "Family Kiss" by Ben Heine particularly remarkable. As photos of cats go, it's just wonderful - the cat's meow! Makes me all the more excited to get to Greece next year.

What a bummer! A friend and I have been excitedly planning a trip to Santorini for next spring, and one of the many things that we were looking forward to was exploring the island by scooter. Neither of us has ever driven a scooter before, and in reading up on this mode of transpo for Santorini, it appears not to be the place for amateur-hour first-timers like my friend and I. It even sounds dangerous for the seasoned pro. Apparently the roads are quite perilous and locals drive them pretty hard and fast, resulting in a rather high incident of accidents for all. So thank you, but we'll stick to walking and the island's public bus system, or a taxi ride if we're really feeling rich and lazy.

But damn. When I see beautiful photos like this of adorable Vespas on cobbled Greek roads, I can't help but be tempted all over again, despite the danger.

This is Oia, where all those sun-lovers were watching the transformation from day to night. As picturesque perches go, from which to enjoy the day and watch the sun set into the ocean, I mean, really. Does it get any more dreamy than this?

What a happy sun-soaked group of gawkers. Love this shot! Looks crazy amazing. The light is incredible. I've always wanted to know what *this* view looked like. You only ever see shots of the pretty sunset vista on Santorini, and never all the people congregating to watch it.

I've always wondered what Shipwreck Beach looks like up close. One always sees the gorgeous shots of the beach and the island from afar, but seldom from the sand, next to the ship. Love this shot. Makes me feel like I'm right there.

Good taste in head gear! The hat second from the right looks kinda like the one Chelsea Clinton was spotted donning about town, trying to hide from prying eyes and camera gear before her big wedding.

Anyone who loves Venice will likely fall for Corfu, too. I've not been, but I'm already quite smitten. Corfu was once a key piece in the vast and powerful puzzle of properties that made up the Republic of Venice. For four centuries, Corfu was an outpost of the Most Serene Republic. Though a part of Greece, this idyllic island has plenty of Italian history and soul.

Read more about the Old Town of Corfu here.

Oh heavenly day, indeed!

Sometimes you have to dig, but if you muck around awhile there are always gems to be discovered on Flickr. And then, there are those rare photos that transcend the rest of the best and truly transport you to another place. In this instance, a sun-kissed vision of picture-perfect Oia on the Greek Island of Santorini. Now I've looked at a lot of lovely photos of Oia, but this one, for me anyway, truly takes a piece of the proverbial cake. Delicious!

What I wouldn't give to be on that deserted, picture-perfect beach right now. Craning up to admire the cliffs, and then back down and out to take in all the beautiful shades of blue. Particularly that serene hue right where the sand meets the sea. Ahhh.

With springtime in Paris now behind me, I am already looking forward to Greece (2011). Planning is half the fun, and more than half of that enjoyment is derived from thumbing (or clicking) through other people's pictures. Like this lovely shot of Oia on the impossibly dreamy island of Santorini.

Enough Greece. I was on a real kick there, the last few days. But can one really ever tire of a place so peaceful and perfect? I think not. But a brief break and a little distance will only make the heart grow fonder, and we'll be back on the beaches of Crete and elsewhere in the Greek Isles, soon enough. Soon enough.

Still in Greece. Look at this tourist- and local-free beach. It's calling my name. Can you hear it?

Packed or people-less, the beaches of Greece seem the place to be. I was talking with a friend the other night - one of the few friends I can and do enjoy traveling with; otherwise I prefer to roll sola - and we're thinking 2011. I'd be down for 2009 or 2010, but my crazy globe-trotting behind already has trips outlined for the next two years! Well three now, I guess.

When I do finally make it to Greece, I have simply got to see this beach with my own eyes. Shipwreck Beach, as it's known, looks crazy amazing. Doesn't it? The water, the stone, the shipwreck; incredible! Ideal Greece.

TGIF (Thank God It's Friday)! This is how I feel at the end of the week. And precisely where I wish I could teleport to, each and every weekend. Ah, Greece. Though I've not yet been in the flesh, I imagine it's just as perfect and peaceful as it appears in this picture.

It's all Greek to me, and it's all όμορφος - beautiful! Or so Google Translate tells me. Anywho, not only are these signs wonderful, the pictures are too. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to go. To the studios, to the airport, or (preferably) to Iraio. What or wherever that is!
