Wow. Searching images of Noli on Flickr, I was swept away by this beautiful shot of the Med, and it was a good way into my serene staring that I noticed the guy rock climbing! Wow! Looks precarious, to say the least! Great photo though. So many wow-worthy layers.

My buddy and I climbed at Noli a few years back. I was on lead and took this shot looking back as he seconded. This is just below the highway, right above the water. You traverse left-to-right (as you look out toward the water). Tricky to find the first bolt... you have to rap down a gully using the highway guardrail as an anchor. Once you find that first bolt, have some faith as the first couple are spread pretty far apart... far enough that you cannot hear your partner over the waves crashing, even at a full scream. A fabulous climb.
ReplyDeleteThank you for providing more detail behind this incredible shot! So cool. I can't imagine a climb like this for myself, but it's a joy to watch. On my recent trip to Nice, I got to see a similar scene at Cassis in the Calanques. Magic. The guys climbing looked like they were having an absolute blast.
