I just realized. I didn't even manage to pass by the Rouge on my recent (and extended stay, even) visit to Paris. How did that happen? And why didn't I take more luscious Lensbaby shots (or just night shots, even), like this one?
Well, there's always next time. I guess. Right?
Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - le.minuit - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

Hi! Thanks for featuring my photograph. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is always something special with Paris. I usually visit it once a year because it is not so far from my hometown in Spain. I always bring my photo gear and I try to feel myself as Cartier-Bresson but I'm not him and I'm too shy to try those shots. So I just takes portraits of Paris.
I stayed in Paris last April in a beautiful studio in Montmatre so I was not too far away from Moulin Rouge. Those neons were a nice place to try the lensbaby. So I tried to isolate myself from those plagues of tourist that tries to take nighshots without a tripod and take this shot. Nothing really special. It was an experiment.
During this stay in Paris I had so much time to explore it and to get lost. I almost felt parisian. And yes... it's a small world. We almost meet by chance there. I left in April 10. I also considered travelling to Cannes to the iStock event but an unexpected work didn't let me go. :_(

"Nothing really special"???
ReplyDeleteI disagree :)
I think your experiment produced wonderful results, and I love this photograph of the Moulin Rouge. It's pleasing to see new takes on landmarks or places that are so familiar and have been so (over) photographed. So if I were you, I would be particularly happy with this picture.
It is too bad we didn't get a chance to meet in Paris, or Cannes. At another iStock event, perhaps!
Thank you for posting your comments here, and thank you again for sharing such a lovely photo via Flickr for someone like me to discover and further share with admiring eyes.
