Countdown to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. I can't wait! Wish I could be there to see Dara Torres kick a55 in the pool! A 41-year-old swimmer, breaking records no less? Awesome. What I wouldn't give to see her events live, in Beijing. But enough about Dara. Look at this gorgeous image of the Olympic torch relay passing through Macau. I love the movement captured in this many-layered reflection. Let the games, and the many photos thereof, begin!

Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - Mlnacio - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

  1. Dear Risamay,
First of all, thankyou very much for featuring my photo in your blog. I'm flattered, really. I'm just someone who simply likes to take photographs. This spot shown in the photo is one of the busiest crooss-road in the city and that day, it was closed especially for the Beijing Olympic Games 2008 torch relay. I've never seen so many people in the sidewalks, all with flags of China & Macau, slogans etc...It was unbelievable how I felt when I saw everyone cheering while the torch passed by.

  2. My pleasure, Mariana. It's a wonderful photo. And thank you for posting a few details of the day. How exciting! I didn't get to see the torch relay here in San Francisco; it was diverted due to all of the protesters. My coworkers and I watched a bit of the mayhem online, but it wasn't like "being there." At any rate, you've captured an exciting moment of Olympic history in an artistic way. Glad you shared your image on Flickr, and glad I found it. Xie xie!!
