I am really impressed (and taken) with many of the iPhone shot (and processed) pics I've come across on Flickr. Almost makes me want to run out an get an iPhone. Which would mean I'd have to run out and then get these, too.

As to this photo, specifically, aside from being lovely, it makes me want to give Chioggia another chance the next time I'm in Venice. I've only been to Chioggia once, and, unfortunately, had a run-in with some neo-Nazi types (the swastika tattoos, combined with the shaved heads and mean glares gave their politics away, methinks).

Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - Mauro Bighin - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

  1. Love that shot.
And those photo jojo things are on my list too...

Though I shoot with all sorts of other stuff, I have to confess that I am amazed at what I can get out of an iphone. I haven't tried to print them yet, so it may be just web fun, but still amazingly versatile.

Just back from Venice. And agree that even on a second trip there is less urge to photograph as the freshness has gone a little ( in response to another post somewhere else on your blog ).

Seems a good excuse to keep going to new places ! :)

  2. Yeah, I'm curious about the print quality. You could probably print decent 4x6-inch photographs, but any larger may be pushing the pixels. I don't have an iPhone, so I'm in the dark as to the camera's megapixel size, etc. But I'd guess that as phones improve, so too will the built-in cameras. Offering exciting capture and print possibilities down the road.

I love returning to Venice (and elsewhere), but I do require breaks in between visits to keep my photographic inspiration its freshest. That said, if I had the opportunity to move to Venice, I'd do it in a heartbeat and hopefully get to know the city in a whole new way, via my camera.

But yes. Always a reason to keep traveling to new places!

Thanks for commenting, and again - beautiful image. Kudos!
