It isn't often, but sometimes I do miss Los Angeles. To be clear, I do not miss living there, but there are pockets and facets of Tinsel Town that remain near and dear to my heart after living there for five formative years of my young adult life.

For example, the many Palm-peppered lanes and large boulevards one finds throughout L.A. and Southern California in general. Reaching to the sky, such streets are viewable from pretty much anywhere on high, and even more magical from a lower vantage point, as captured in this pretty picture.

Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - jean luc dushime - photo - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

  1. Hello to VIVA LA VIVACA world,
I am honored that my photograph is featured on your blog.I took this picture two months after moving to Santa Monica.I drove across the country from Vermont to Cali and i would say that i was impressed by the beauty of the Palm trees along the street in Santa Monica and other areas in Los Angeles.I wanted to capture the Palm trees' beauty, age and majesty so i used a lensbaby and with multiple shots (3 pictures in one) setting on my camera. So i was able to capture this picture that i thought communicate how i feel about the ocean, santa monica and where i am right now.

  2. Thank you for the additional info on your dreamy photograph, Jean Luc. And welcome to California! I spent a lot of time in Santa Monica and West L.A. in general when I lived in Los Angeles. It is a very particular place. Not for me in the long-term, but I'm glad for the time I spent there. Your Lensbaby creation captures the essence of what it is to be in L.A. perfectly, I think. Congratulations on a lovely image.
