This is the most magical hour in Venice, in my personal opinion; the early morning hours when the city is yours. As everyone else sleeps. As to this particular picture - simply stunning. I've only ever seen Venice in the fog once, and it was fleeting. I hope to have similar mornings in Venice this spring. At least one!
Your comments on this image are welcome, and encouraged! And a question for the photographer - Jonathan c Riley - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

Thank you for your lovely comment.
ReplyDeleteThis was New Year’s Day about 7:15 am, wish I had got out of bed a little sooner but the Prosecco from the cold snow covered celebrations the night before had taken affect.
I use a Canon 5d and a 24-70mm.

What I wouldn't give to be a citizen of the EU and spend New Year's in Venice one year, and Paris the next. Alas, it's just too far and expensive of a quick trip from the United States. So thank goodness for people like you whose New Year's travels I can enjoy vicariously, via photos. I really do love this image, and several of your other images from New Year's in Venice. Brilliant work. And kudos on getting up at 7:15 after a night of Prosecco! I am impressed.
