I first saw a story on the Estonian town of Tallinn on one of my favorite PBS imports from Europe - Euromaxx. Old European city centers are a delight to discover and explore alone or with friends, camera in tow. Tallinn looks like another such gem that I look forward to tackling on a future European tour.

And a question for the photographer - wanderzell - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

  1. Hi, thanks for sharing! The pic is taken 26th june when the nights are shortest. In fact it doesn't get dark at all in Tallinn arount that time - pic is taken at 23:30 in the night.

I live myself in Tallinn and know the old town neighbourhood quite well. There are several popular views in the old town that are well photographed but I still havent seen anything from that angle. Although it should be the oldest street of Tallinn.

Today it is also the busiest. Especially at night. It is not that well seen but there were people constantly passing by during the 13sec exposure... I was actually shooting a sequence for a time-lapse video project there to capture the busy pedestrian street and moving people crowd.

  2. Thank you for that additional detail! One of the elements that I really enjoy about this image are the faint, ghost-like figures that you captured of all the passersby. Very cool.
