Ever since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade introduced me to Petra, as a kid, the desire to see this city set in stone has been full flame. How off the charts amazing does this place look? Unreal, right? I've gotta see it myself someday. Got to. And this image - the larger-than-life architecture glimpsed through the rough, rugged stone? The light and dark. Lovely.

And a question for the photographer - Zé Eduardo - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

Oh golly! This is one of my favorites! INCREDIBLE! You really should go, and tell me what the sun feels like as you step out of the crevices.
ReplyDeleteI know! I think it would be so cool! But hot. The sun must be really hot. I'd imagine. Oh, to hell with it. Petra is definitely worth an inevitable bout of my heat rash. I'll be sure to carry a little travel umbrella though. I learned the hard way not having one during a six-hour visit to Pompeii under a relentless sun. I was so envious of all the Japanese tourists and their umbrellas, that day ...
