The East Coast had its heatwave, and now it's our turn on the West Coast. Everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area has been complaining all summer how exceptionally cold it's been - and we're used to cold summers, but the layers and wool sweaters were getting pretty old - but now that the heat is on, I dare say we miss the fog and otherwise frigid conditions.

And a question for the photographer - The Holgasnake - if s/he is so inclined: Is there anything special about this moment, day, trip, or place beyond what you've shared on Flickr that you'd like to add or comment on here? Along with other vivaca visitors, I would love to know more!

Holgasnake here- thank you for posting me!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in NY and haven't been back for a few years. I finally got to squeeze in a super quick trip (2 days) this summer- right as the heatwave began. Delirious fun in my cousin's 4th floor walk up in Brooklyn. No AC- not even a fan- just many cold showers and playing with a panting kitty cat. Dunkin donuts iced coffee and shaved cuban ice on the street- too much to look at and photograph to really notice the 103 degree heat.
Sounds like you have the right attitude for dealing with a muggy East Coast heatwave. How I envy you! I don't have that DNA. LOL :D
ReplyDeleteGreat pic, and thanks for the details behind the image. Shaved Cuban ice sounds good to me ... I wonder if that's similar to the snow cones or "shave ice" that's sold in Hawaii - I suppose shaved, flavored ice is essentially the same everywhere.
